Product features: Appearance: The lotus nodes are thick, short and well-proportioned. The skin color is relatively light, presenting a milky white or light yellow hue, with few patterns, giving it a clean and smooth appearance.
When cut open, the flesh of the lotus root is as white as jade, full of moisture, and its crystal clear texture can be seen with the naked eye. The starch content is relatively low.

Basic information

Honghu lotus root is a specialty of Honghu City, Jingzhou, Hubei Province. It is a product under national geographical indication protection and has a cultivation history of over 2,300 years. It has been selected for the first batch of brand and quality cultivation plans of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, etc.

Production environment

Honghu has a subtropical humid monsoon climate with abundant sunlight and plentiful rainfall. Historically, it was a floodplain of the Yangtze River. Geological evolution has formed a green mud soil rich in organic matter, which is fertile, soft and has a strong ability to retain nutrients, making it suitable for the growth of lotus roots.

Appearance and taste

Long in shape, each lotus root is thick and large, with thick internodes and small ventilation holes in the middle. The texture is soft, glutinous and sweet. It is easy to cook into soup and becomes tender. The meat is thick and fleshy. It is sweet and crispy when stir-fried and easy to become floury when stewed.
